Human rights activist Rajib Kanti Shil, based in London, has once again voiced grave concerns regarding the safety and security of minority communities in Bangladesh. In a recent statement, Shil highlighted the escalating challenges faced by religious and ethnic minorities, urging the international community to take immediate notice.

- Rise in Targeted Violence: Shil pointed out a disturbing trend of sporadic attacks on households, businesses, and places of worship belonging to minority groups. He emphasized that the lack of prompt legal action against perpetrators has created a "culture of impunity."
- Demands for Legal Safeguards: The activist reiterated his long-standing demand for the enactment of a Minority Protection Act and the establishment of an independent Minority Commission in Bangladesh to ensure constitutional rights are upheld.
- International Advocacy: During his briefing in London, he called upon the United Nations, the European Union, and other global human rights organizations to engage in a constructive dialogue with the Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety of all citizens regardless of their faith.

Rajiv Kanti Shil noted that while the government often provides assurances of secularism, the ground reality for many remains precarious. He stressed that a truly democratic nation must be judged by how it protects its most vulnerable populations.
