On October 25, 2021, at approximately 7:30 PM, a group of assailants entered the home of Srimati Phulmati Rani (35), a Hindu woman from Bodeshwari village under Boda Police Station in Panchagarh district. They attacked her with a sharp knife with the intent to kill. Fortunately, she survived the attack.
Upon hearing her screams, the attackers severely injured her left hand, causing serious lacerations, and then fled. At the time of the incident, her husband, Harish Chandra, was at the market.
Bangladesh Minority Watch Steps In
Upon receiving news of the attack, Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) contacted the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boda Police Station, Abu Sayeed Chowdhury. The OC confirmed the incident and immediately took steps to register a case. A case was filed at Boda Police Station (Case No. 17, dated October 26, 2021), with Harish Chandra as the plaintiff.
The OC informed BDMW that they had already arrested one suspect, Md. Nazmul Islam, son of Md. Saiful Islam. Harish Chandra later informed Advocate Rabindra Ghosh that police authorities had assured him the other two accused would also be arrested.
Harish Chandra stated to BDMW, "The terrorists entered my house with the intention of murdering my wife. She was in a lot of pain and was admitted to the hospital, where she started receiving treatment."
Bangladesh Minority Watch strongly condemned this heinous act of terrorism and demanded the immediate arrest of the remaining culprits and their swift punishment under the law. A BDMW representative, Gourahari Barman, investigated the incident on site.
