Razzak, the delegation, led by BDMW President Advocate Rabindra Ghosh, went to the Borodevbhog mouza in Fatullah, Narayanganj on May 1, 2023.
The on-site investigation revealed that 61 decimals of land and a temple, belonging to Shambhunath De and others, under SA Khatian No. 610 and SA Plot No. 718 in Borodevbhog mouza, were protected by orders from both the High Court and the Supreme Court, with the assistance of BDMW.
In a writ petition (No. 8182/2021), the High Court Division, in an order dated September 27, 2021, directed that a status quo be maintained on the disputed land as described in the schedule.
After considering the case (No. 251/12), the High Court ruled in favor of Hindu Shambhunath De and others, ordering the release of the 61 decimals of land.
After an 11-year legal battle, the court ruled in favor of the Shambhunath group. On the other hand, the land grabbers, Kashem Humayun, his brother Md. Abdus Salam, Delwar Chhonnu, and Moazzem Hossain, lost the legal fight. The status quo is currently being maintained on the land. However, the land grabbers, supported by influential leaders, are still illegally carrying out work on a portion of the land under the guise of an unauthorized school, defying the law.
BDMW is calling for cooperation with the law and for the decision of the highest court to be respected.
