Nilphamari district: Vandalism at a Kali temple; BDMW condemns the act

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 2:00 AM, unknown individuals illegally entered the Baburhat Public Kali Temple in the Dimla Police Station area of Nilphamari district. They vandalized the Hindu idols and desecrated the Hindu religion. When asked, the Officer-in-Charge of the police station, Debashish Kumar Roy, stated that the police have not yet identified any suspects. He also mentioned that a case, number 20/156, was filed at the Dimla Police Station on July 17 under sections 448/295, with the temple's priest, Monoranjan Sen (01740921445), as the plaintiff. When questioned, Monoranjan Sen expressed his deep distress to the Bangladesh Minority Watch and demanded justice.

Bangladesh Minority Watch has strongly condemned the incident and is demanding the swift arrest and legal action against the culprits. It is crucial to abandon religious violence. Perpetrators are getting encouraged because they are not being punished in such cases. Photos and a copy of the case file have been attached.
