Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) has initiated a fact-finding mission to investigate a recent conflict in Araihazar Thana, Narayanganj district, which resulted in the death of Shri Prantu Chandra Das (17). The investigation follows the filing of a murder case under sections 302/34 of the Bangladesh Penal Code against several Hindus and allegations that the investigating police inspector is intimidating them.
Some Hindu leaders have alleged that the investigating officer of the local police outpost is summoning and intimidating innocent, simple Hindus to implicate them in the case.
Today, Wednesday, at 11:00 AM, a BDMW delegation, including President and human rights representative Sujan Chandra, along with Ripon Chandra Das and driver Md. Dulal, visited the Araihazar Police Station and the scene of the incident for an on-site investigation and interviews. The police officer present at the station stated that no one would be unfairly harassed in this case.
During its on-site investigation, the BDMW team recorded testimonies from approximately 70 witnesses from the village. The witnesses are demanding a fair trial and have requested that the police ensure no innocent individuals are unjustly included in this murder case. Bangladesh Minority Watch always advocates for peaceful coexistence.
