Bangladesh Minority Watch on the Ground in Pabna

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Advocate Rabindra Ghosh, president of the Bangladesh Minority Watch, expressed his outrage while conducting an on-site investigation at the Pabna Judge Court regarding a discriminatory and communal order issued by the Senior Assistant Judge Court of Pabna. He stated that such an order would harm the reputation of the judiciary.

The case involves Shri Gopal Datta @ Joyanta Kumar Datta, a resident of Pabna town. Despite a favorable ruling from the High Court (Civil Revision No. 2213/2010) and the Supreme Court (Civil Review Petition No. 05/2022) in his case against his evictable tenant, Md. Rashidul Alam @ Rontu, the verdict has not been implemented due to what is being called a "communal attitude" from Assistant Judge Mrs. Nahida Akter Juliet.

Mr. Joyanta Kumar Datta and his family have also failed to get legal redress or justice even after contacting the Law Minister, Mr. Anisul Haque, and the Pabna District Judge, Mrs. Shamim Ahmed. With tears in their eyes, they sought assistance from the Bangladesh Minority Watch, stating, "Because I am a Hindu minority, our judiciary has treated me cruelly since 2021. I want my rights back."

The Bangladesh Minority Watch has strongly condemned this communal behavior and is urging for the immediate eviction of the defendant, Md. Rashidul Alam, in execution case 01/2021, and for compliance with the orders of the High Court and the Supreme Court.
