According to reports, the 14-year-old daughter of Shri Jaydev Hayalder, a resident of Borailbari village in Pearpur Union, Madaripur, was rescued through the proactive efforts of the Bangladesh Minority Watch and the cooperation of the police.
Advocate Rabindra Ghosh, President of BMDW, stated that based on the plaintiff's complaint and the details of the incident, the teenage girl, a ninth-grade student at Char Muguria Glass School, was being harassed with romantic proposals by a young man named Sajjat Khan while on her way to and from school. When the girl informed her father, he requested the youth to stop his actions.
Subsequently, on January 11, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, as the girl reached the dirt road west of her home, she was forcibly abducted by a group of assailants waiting in an unknown blue-colored easybike. They quickly drove towards Ghatikchor Bazar.
After being informed by locals, the girl's father searched for her extensively but could not find her. Following this, the girl's mother, Monika Rani (46), filed a complaint at the Madaripur police station, naming Md. Sajjad Khan (20), son of Md. Milan Khan of Borailbari; Md. Milan Khan (50), son of the late Angul Khan; and Mosammat Nazma Begum (42), wife of Md. Milan Khan, along with 2-3 other unidentified individuals as culprits.
After the complaint was filed, the girl was successfully rescued on January 15, 2024, due to the swift action of the BMDW and the police. The rescued girl has been handed over to the custody of her grandfather.
Since the victim's family did not wish to pursue a case, no legal proceedings have been initiated at the police station regarding this incident.
